Our Story
Specialized has been building bikes since 1974, and our chapter in Stellenbosch is one we hold close. The brand put down roots here in 2012, and over the following decade became part of the fabric of Cape Winelands riding culture.
In 2022 that grew into something tangible: the Specialized Experience Centre opened at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate. It is more than a bike shop. It is a place to hire a great bike, train at the Farm Gym, and ride trails that most people only dream about, right outside the door.
We have had our share of hard yards, but what has come out the other side is a genuine community of people who simply love being on a bike.
Our Journey
The Specialized brand plants roots in the Cape Winelands — beginning a decade-long relationship with the local riding community.
Milestone TBC — celebrating a key moment in the Stellenbosch Specialized journey. Content coming soon.
Through a global pandemic and the challenges it brought, the Stellenbosch team kept the wheels turning and the community riding.
The Specialized Experience Centre officially opens at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate — a purpose-built destination combining bike rentals, the Farm Gym and a gateway to world-class trails.
The Velosolutions Pump Track and Bike Park opens on the estate — a new chapter in the Experience Centre's story, welcoming riders of all ages and abilities.
More milestones ahead. We're building something special in Stellenbosch — stay tuned.
The Brand Behind Us
Founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard in Morgan Hill, California, Specialized Bicycle Components changed cycling forever — producing the first mass-produced mountain bike tyre, pioneering carbon fibre frames, and today leading the electric bike revolution. The Experience Centre in Stellenbosch is part of that global legacy, bringing world-class bikes and riding culture to the Cape Winelands.
